Let us tell you that the Vaitheeswaran Koil Temple is one of the nine Navagraha (nine planets) temples and is associated with the planet Mars (Angaraka). It manifests the Dravidian architecture. The temple construction received contributions from various rulers of the region, such as Vikrama Chola, Veera Rajendra Pandya, Achutappa Nayak (1560 – 1614 AD), and the Maratha prince Thulaja. The temple has five inscriptions, which mainly belong to the period of Kulothunga Chola I (1070-1120 AD).
