Samarlakota Kumararama Temple, also known as the Sri Chalukya Kumararama Bhimeswara Swamy Temple, is a historic Hindu shrine located in Samalkota, Kakinada district, Andhra Pradesh, India. This temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Mahadev and Bala Tripurasundari are the prime deities of the temple. This is one of the ancient temples in Andhra Pradesh. In the Temple premises, there is a 14-foot-high white crystal Shiva Linga, spread over two floors. It is believed to have been consecrated by Kumara Swamy (Karthikeya), who gave the temple its name.

As per the historic records, Samarlakota Kumararama Temple is traditionally attributed to the Eastern Chalukya king Chalukya Bhima I, who ruled from 892 to 922 CE. The architecture of the temple reflects the Dravidian style, with intricate designs and elements highlighting its historical and cultural significance. Kumararam is a centrally protected monument of national importance and attracts devotees from across the region.

The temple is believed to have the constructed in the Early 10th century, during the era of Chalukya Bhima I (892–922 CE). Samarlakota Kumararama Temple is visited by thousands of people every week. A huge crowd will appear on the occasion of the Maha Shivratri. The temple is daily operated between 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM for general darshan and pooja seva.

Samarlakota Kumararama Temple Entry Fee

This Temple is one of the renowned and also one of the five ancient Hindu shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. The entry to the temple is completely free and open to all. There are no special darshan facilities available. All can perform the general darshan, which is completely free. However, there are charges only applicable to some services, which are mentioned above. Devotees can also attend the aarti freely.
